Heffley Lake provides excellent fishing for any type of angler whether it be trolling, fly fishing, still fishing or ice fishing. The lake is 7.5km long and approx. 90' at its deepest point. There are several nice quiet shallow shoals as well. The lake is annually stocked with rainbow trout (known for their high energy fight when hooked on a line). The known record for a trout caught in Heffley Lake is 11lbs-12 oz!
The trailhead to Embleton Mountain is just a short walk from the resort. The hike is 8.9km (2-3 hours). The hike is a single track, fairly steep, with loose dirt - the difficulty level is slightly hard.
The payoff, however, is the gorgeous views of Heffley Lake and surrounding hills from the summit. For a more leisurely stroll there are trails around a quiet pond with plenty of wildlife.
For the mountain bikers and ATV's, there are several unmarked trails and dirt roads through nearby crown land that can be easily navigated.
We are also located 15 minutes from Sun Peaks Resort. There you will find cross-country biking, downhill mountain biking, and a very challenging 18-hole golf course, as well as many shops and restaurants.
From the majestic bald and golden eagles to the curious black bear, Heffley lake and the surrounding area is a place you will definitely spot some of BC's fantastic wildlife.
Our local creatures also include the elusive moose, mule and white-tailed deer, cougars, the evasive flying night squirrel, grouse, loons and several breeds of ducks and birds to name a few.
The lake is also home to a colony of great blue herons, who you will clearly hear during breeding and nesting seasons. Be sure to bring your binoculars and camera!
Kamloops is located a mere 35-minute drive from the resort. There you will find shopping malls, the weekly farmers' market, or enjoy the Kamloops Wildlife Park or maybe the T'Kumlups Pow Wow in August.
We are also 1.5 hours from the gateway to Well Grey Provincial Park (home of the famous Helmcken Falls), as well as 30 minutes from the Township of Barriere where you can enjoy the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo, which takes place on Labour Day long weekend.
